About Grace
Hi, I’m Grace.
I graduated from the University of Toronto—with a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Master of Theological Studies. Even as a child, I’ve had a passionate love affair with the English language. Meanings and nuances of words enthralled me. I spent countless hours poring through the dictionary.
This passion for the English language launched my writing career. I first forayed into writing about ten years ago on a part-time basis. And I’ve been doing it fulltime since 2004. I’ve done extensive research into search engine optimization and condensed all the information into a simple easy-to-understand primer, Racing to the Top. Over the years, I’ve become proficient in delivering the following writing services:
- Digital content
- Profiles
- Speeches
- Annual reports
- Newsletters
- Marketing copy
- PowerPoint presentations
- Search engine optimization (SEO)
I’ve also developed a special expertise in mental health advocacy. For thirty-nine years, I’ve struggled with bipolar disorder, cycling through periods of mania and depression. In the winter, seasonal affective disorder assails me. The lack of sunshine can leave me feeling quite melancholy. But I’ve learned to live to the full by assembling a unique blend of tools.
At one time, I wouldn’t dare breathe a word to anyone about my mental health issues. But I’ve started speaking up. I’ve experienced the suffering mental illness has caused my family and me. And God alone knows how many others suffer because they or the people they love struggle with the same issues. Most people suffer in silence because of the huge stigma still attached to mental illness.
If you break a leg and wear a cast, your friends may see it as a badge of honour. They may even ask if they can autograph it. People recognize and acknowledge physical pain. But no one can know or understand the torment we’re going through because of mental illness. You cannot see inside our brain. And while we continue to struggle with mental illness, few people know how to help.
I can help you shine a light on mental illness through my writing. We can bring it out into the open, begin a dialogue about it and reduce the stigma attached to it. As a speaker, I can help empower others, struggling with mental illness, to flourish. But, most importantly, we can help to save lives.
Let’s work together on this urgent quest.
